Under 18 Ireland Sevens Champion

The under 18 women’s squad of Ireland were able to overcome the Wales team as well as Scotland and England during the pool stages of the Sevens champion round on Saturday. This team was able to defeat the Scots at a score of 26-5 while they defeated the English in 28-19; this was at the knockout clashes on Sunday.

The Ireland Sevens team was able to perform, whether they were playing at San Francisco or at Birmingham. The team was able to represent the country and with distinction. This was concluded over the weekend; it was as a result of their undefeated run that the Under 18 women’s team was crowned series champion in Home Nations series. Tackle Height Lowered For England Rugby

Tackle height for trials to be lowered as per new changes in the legalities in England rugby. This amendment is being introduced and will result in height of legal tackle being lowered to armpit line from shoulder line. This rule change will be tried out by the English Rugby Football Union.

This would be implemented for the second tier campaign coming up for the Championship Cup. This amendment that is being brought in would see the legal tackle height being lowered. This change is being implemented since it has been noted that most match injuries, as much as 47 percent are associated with the way the tackle has to be done. Ben Foden On US Rugby

Former England full back rugby player Ben Foden states that the Rugby Union in Europe needs to learn from US sports how to put precedence of the players and give importance to their welfare.

As Foden has moved to Rugby United based out of New York, he feels that there is much potential for the sport in the US which is relatively new. On the other hand, the way Americans deal with sports and sports men’s welfare are certain things that Rugby Union can pick up to implement for the European teams.
