REPORT: £50M LIVERPOOL TARGET SET TO LEAVE CLUB THIS SUMMER

Liverpool are one of three ‘finalists’ who will battle it out to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni this summer. That’s according to French outlet RMC Sport. They claim that the Liverpool target will no longer be a Monaco player next season, regardless of whether the Principality side qualify for the Champions League or not.

The Reds are reportedly one of the front-runners to finalise his departure from Monaco. Joining Liverpool in the race are Real Madrid and Chelsea. It’s also claimed that PSG ‘has not said its last word.’ However their task is made difficult by the fact that Tchouameni would reportedly prefer a challenge away from France.

Heavyweights battle over Tchouameni

This looks like a transfer saga that could rumble on throughout the rest of the season and into the summer. Liverpool have been repeatedly claimed to be one of the most interested parties in Tchouameni. According to reports last week, The Reds are also well aware of the interest from Real Madrid.

Chelsea’s complicated ownership situation means that they could be unlikely to rival the two Champions League finalists. The battle for the 22-year-old could add a little extra spice, if any was needed, to the Champions League final in Paris. 90min claimed yesterday that the Spanish Champions would be unwilling to go over £34m for Tchouameni. However, Monaco will reportedly hold out for at least £50m.

The clash between Real and Liverpool in Paris is so much bigger than deciding a player’s transfer destination. Should Liverpool winning lean the France international towards a move to Anfield though, it’ll certainly be a nice bonus. It remains to be seen which club Tchouameni will be joining this summer but what’s certain is that he has a lot of potential destinations to choose from.
