Willy Caballero speaks on his relationship with Kepa Arrizabalaga

Chelsea’s back-up goalkeeper Willy Caballero has said that he continues to hold a good relationship with Kepa Arrizabalaga despite the Spaniard’s antics in the League Cup final defeat to Manchester City. The Spain international was dropped from the lineup to face Tottenham Hotspur after the drama which unfolded during the weekend’s League Cup final but this did not affect the team’s performance as they secured a comfortable 2-0 win.

Speaking after the game, Caballero said that he has no concerns with the club’s number one despite the Spaniard refusing to be subbed off against the Citizens last weekend, he said: “We passed the last few days in good harmony, trying to talk about things and how to beat Spurs, and we did it. It was probably very important [what happened] because it was in a final but it doesn’t matter. We improved a lot and we are more together than ever. Is everything okay between me and Kepa? Yes, of course. We spoke about it after the incident and it was good to have a chat with him. He learned a lot from what happened, we learned a lot as a team.”

Chelsea have gone through a mixed level of showing since the turn of the year but they managed to produce a resolute defensive performance against Spurs, who failed to have a single shot on target. As such, they sealed maximum points from the game and this keeps them within the race for the Champions League places with just three points separating them from Arsenal, who are in the fourth position, having played an additional game.

Next up, the Capital outfit have a west London derby against Fulham on the road and the match offers them a good chance to secure another triumph. The Blues sealed a 2-0 win over the Cottagers during the reverse fixture at the Bridge.
